Airports to Italy

  • 01.

    Venice

Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) is the closest major international airport and the easiest arrival point for most guests. From the airport, a direct bus connects to Venezia Mestre train station in about 20 minutes, where guests can continue by train toward Vicenza, Schio, or Thiene. Or you can rent a car at the airport and drive (1h 15m) to Malo and Schio.

  • 02.

    Verona

Verona Airport (VRN) is a smaller regional airport close to Malo. It can be very convenient if the flight options work, especially for guests connecting through Europe. A direct airport bus connects to Verona Porta Nuova train station in about 15 minutes. Or you can rent a car at the airport and drive (1h) to Malo and Schio.

  • 03.

    Milan

Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Milan Linate (LIN) offer more flight options, especially for long-haul travel. Malpensa has a direct train to Milano Centrale train station, while Linate is closer to the city and connects to Milano Centrale by shuttle bus or metro.

  • 04.

    Bologna

Bologna Airport (BLQ) is a practical alternative if flight times or prices are better. The airport is very well connected to Bologna Centrale train station by the Marconi Express shuttle, which takes about 7 minutes.

  • 05.

    Rome

Rome Fiumicino (FCO) is farther away, but it can work well if you plan to spend time in central or southern Italy before traveling north. A direct train connects the airport to Roma Termini train station in about 32 minutes.

Trains & Taxis

  • Trains

All of the major airports and cities above are connected by high-speed trains. Trains in Italy are a great experience, and they take you from city center to city center without highway tolls or parking issues.

For trips between major cities, Rome, Florence, Bologna, Milan, Venice, and Verona, you should book a high-speed train such as Trenitalia Frecciarossa or Italo. Tickets should be booked in advance (to get the best price and guarantee yourself a seat) and are valid for specific train and seat-assignement.

For local travel around Veneto, including routes toward Vicenza, Schio, and Thiene, you will use Trenitalia regional trains. These are slower and more flexible, and tickets can usually be bought online, in the Trenitalia app, or at station machines.

  • Taxis

From the train station of Vicenza, you can take a taxi to Malo or any nearby town where you might be lodging. Taxis are not generally available between smaller towns like Malo, Schio or Thiene. They are mainly useful to and from Vicenza.

In Vicenza, taxis are usually available outside the train station. You can also use appTaxi or call the local taxi number if you need to arrange a ride.

We will organize transportation to the reception venue and back to Malo and Schio at 8 p.m., 10 p.m., and midnight.

Uber does not operate like standard UberX ride-share service in Italy. The app may offer a licensed cab through UberTaxi or a private driver through UberBlack, but availability can be limited and should not be your main plan.

Renting a Car

Renting a car gives you the most flexibility if you plan to explore the Veneto before or after the wedding, especially smaller towns, villas, wineries, and the foothills around Malo.

The ceremony and reception venues have parking, and driving is usually straightforward outside the historic centers. Keep in mind that Italian highways have tolls, many city centers have restricted traffic zones, and parking can be limited in larger cities.

Shuttle to the Reception

The reception venue is about a 25-minute drive from Malo or 15-minutes from Schio.

We expect the party to end late at night, so we organized return shuttles for our guests at 8pm, 10pm and midnight.

Shuttles will run from the church to the reception, and then back to guest accommodations near Malo, Schio, or Vicenza. This way, no one needs to drive Italian countryside roads at night after the party.
